Types of appointments

At Spindogs Surgery, we offer different appointments to help you get the care you need as soon as possible.

Urgent GP Appointments

We always have emergency ‘Duty Doctors’ on site to deal with medical emergencies within our opening hours. Please call 01666 825825 and choose option ‘1’. Duty Doctor appointments always start with a telephone triage call and the GP will then arrange a face to face appointment if needed.

The Patient Adviser will ask you questions on the nature of your illness. This will enable them to get the most appropriate help and quickly as possible.

Urgent, same day matters may include; chest pain, shortness of breath, pain in lower limbs, new confusion, feeling suicidal, not passing urine, fever symptoms, hot or swollen joints, new/severe abdominal pain, mastitis, heart palpitations.

Specialist Practitioner Appointments

If you have a Minor Illness, such as a tight chest/chest infection, ear pain/infection, sore throat, tonsillitis, or non-life threatening shortness of breath, you may be booked into a same day Face to Face appointment with a Specialist Practitioner. They will assess your symptoms, and if you need a prescription they will arrange for a GP to prescribe for you.

Call 01666 825825 and press option ‘1’.

Minor Illness and Injuries

If there are no appointments available with our Specialist Practitioner’s you can attend the Tetbury Minor Illness Clinic, a walk in service for minor medical conditions. They are open from 8.30am-6pm, Monday to Friday and accept their last walk-in patient at 5.30pm.

For Minor Injuries such as sprains, simple fractures and dislocations or minor burns, you can visit Tetbury or Chippenham Minor Injuries Unit.
Tetbury MIU – Open 8:30am – 6pm Monday to Friday
Chippenham MIU – Open 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm

Non-Urgent GP Appointments

Our routine appointments with GPs open 3 weeks in advance. You can book by using the online link above or call 01666 825825 and select option ‘1’ to make a booking. You will be offered a choice of a face to face or telephone appointment.

Please note, our Patient Advisers will ask for information on the nature of your illness. This will enable them to get you help from the most appropriate clinician or service as soon as possible. You may not always need to see a GP.

Medication Reviews and Queries

For medication queries our dedicated team of Clinical Pharmacists can help. These telephone consultations can be pre-booked, simply call 01666 825825 and select option ‘1’ to ask to speak to a Clinical Pharmacist.

First Contact Physiotherapist

For musculoskeletal symptoms including back pain, sports injuries, and joint pain you might be offered an appointment with our First Contact Physiotherapist. This gives you immediate access to a highly qualified specialist, without the need to be referred by a GP.

Our wonderful nursing team offer a wide range of care including blood tests, ECGs, wound care, and injections. We also have specialist nurses in Diabetes, Respiratory conditions, and Women’s Health/Contraception. To book an appointment with a Nurse or HCA please call 01666 825825 and press option ‘1’.

Eye Issues
